Demand for hair coloring, hair straightening, and other advanced hair treatments has risen in recent years, a trend that is expected to continue over the coming decade.
The ability to stand for long periods of time is important to this profession as cosmetologists are on their feet for most of their shift. There is also the possibility of prolonged contact with chemicals which may cause skin irritation. Protective clothing, aprons, and/or gloves are often worn to shield against irritation.
